Have you heard of the "Rem" or the "Millirem"? These are the units of measurement the government (and industry) use to determine how much radiation you may have received; or are considered safe. The accompaying article (PDF Format) charges that these units of measure are a myth, based on unscientific logic. Yet they are used by the Defense Threat Reduction Aency (an arm of the Department of Defense) and its civilian contractor SAIC, to "guess" what dosage has affected an individual. And from this "guess" a Dose Reconstruction (DR) is made, and the results of this DR determine whether a Veteran will (or more likely will not) be compensated for a radiolgical disease not listed on the limited list of presumpive cancers.
Dose Reconstruction is a farce ... it is conducted using "Voodoo Statistics" ... based on what appears to be an unsupported method of measurement. If an "Accurate Radiation Dose" was not "constructed" in the first place, then how can it be "Re-Constructed."
The article below, published by the private foundation Nuclear Information and Research Service, is a "must read" for those seeking justice for Radiated Veterans. If the article is in error then Radiated Veterans of America (RVA) challenges the government to expalain why, especially as we wtiness continued hearings from the Congressinally mandated Veterans Advisory Board on Dose Reconstruction (VDBR). If the article is correct, then RVA challenges VBDR to "advise" Congress that the expensive and prejudicial DR program, built on false or misleading information, be scrapped.
